College Basketball's Tarnished Twenty...

San Jose State University

SJSU gunslingers Eric Griffin and Ben Sanders are all done shooting hoops for the year after their first-round WAC Tournament loss to Texas Christian. The Spartans haven't fired off too many wins since Griffin's and Sanders's New Year's Eve arrest for carrying a concealed weapon into a Safeway supermarket. Both players were booked on possession charges after a police search produced an unloaded Smith & Wesson 9mm, twenty rounds of ammo, and a seven-inch knife. The district attorney recently dropped the charges against Griffin, who was just holding the bullets, but Sanders will be making a court appearance in the near future. Both players rejoined the team in January after two-game suspensions, but they weren't much help in any of SJSU's nine conference losses. They combined for only six points in the Spartans' 71-84 loss to TCU, so it looks like Griffin and Sanders are barely worth their weight in spent cartridges.
