College Basketball's Tarnished Twenty...

University of Northern Iowa

The Northern Iowa Panthers ran out of steam this year as the regular season drew to a close. After redeeming themselves with two late-season wins, the Panthers dropped their last game to Drake by just one point to finish up with a 7-11 conference record. It was rough going for the team without last year's top scorer, Sean Stackhouse, who was dismissed after a September conviction for marijuana possession. Police caught Stackhouse red-eyed and red-handed with more than a pound of pot last spring, then found a baggie with traces of dope in his dorm room. Now Stackhouse could be off to jail for as long as five years. His former teammates probably miss the forward's scoring prowess on the court, but his apparent extracurricular "hobby" has kept them in the Tarnished Twenty rankings all year.
